You can use the solution to quickly access spend in three different ways.

Depending on your contract, historical media spend can be provided.
Spend reporting is only available for the following media types:
TV
Print
Radio
Online Display
Online Video
Mobile
Spend data is available 3 days after the close of the media week and can be provided weekly, monthly or quarterly.
Use Magnifer to help answer the following business questions:
Should I adjust my media plan or creative messaging based on the spend of my competitors in the past 3 months?
How does current spending compare to the same period last year?

The Dashboard Module
The Dashboard Module provides near-real time spend data that is updated throughout the day as new data is captured.
Within the Dashboard you can:
View ad creatives breaking in real time
View ads currently running in your markets
Easily sort by spend and first run date.
Spend reported will vary slightly once it is published in the Dashboard. The current week is preliminary and may change after the close ofthe media week.
Magnifier provides insights into spend reporting for the following media types:

Print
Radio
Online Display
Online Video

The Reports Module
The Reports Module provides insights on weekly, monthly, or quarterly published data and will only have data up to the most recent full media week, month, or quarter
Reports give you a quicker and easier view of historical data with extra charts, such as the Spending by Key Competitors Chart.
The report mirrors the excel-based supplemental offline report.
The Offline Report
The Reports Module allows for a quicker and easier view of historical data and provides additional charts compared to the Offline Report.
In the Offline Report, you receive:
An Excel workbook detailing advertising activity by the Competitive Set and within the General Market Media Coverage
Spending estimates 3 days after the close of a report period
Multiple data views, including spend by advertiser, product, media channel, etc. and a pivot table permitting easy drill-down to most granular data level
View Spend in the Dashboard
In the Dashboard, select Search Options to edit your search. For this example, we selected:
Running Ads
Date Range: Last 3 Months
Advertisers: Amazon, Samsung, Walmart
2. The Dashboard is updated in near real-time based on the search results.
The Leading Advertisers Mix Chart shows total spend by media type.
3. To get more granular, you can hover over the charts to see the breakdown of the
media spend.
Leveraging the Leading Advertisers Media Mix in the Dashboard provides insights into how my media spend is compared to my competitors.
Amazon spent over $369M while Walmart and Samsung spent less than $195M and $98M.
Amazon spent $369,353.77M and spent 33% of their ad dollars on the media type Paid Social.
View Spend in the Reports Module
To view only a selection of advertisers in your competitive set, select the Advertiser filter in Refine Search.
You can also edit your date range. Weekly published reports data can be selected for weekly periods and monthly or quarterly published data can be selected for monthly periods.
The Reports Module provides many graphical summaries highlighting key trends.
The Share of Spend chart quickly provides you spend amounts for the Top 8 Advertisers within your search.
4. Hover over a slice of the chart to see the breakdown of the media spend per advertiser.
5. Select Tabular in the 3 Dot Menu to view all the spend data by Advertiser in the Tabular Data View.
In the Tabular Data View you are able to drill-down spend to the category, subcategory, and product level.
6. Select Tabular Options to access this data.
7. To export, select Tabular Bulk Actions, then Download Grid.
View Spend in the Offline Report
Your offline report is located in the My Exports section of the left-side menu.
Click on Offline to view your report.
2. Click the 3-Dot action menu located on the right and choose Download.
In the offline report, the Dashboard Tab is an easy visual way of looking at spend and outlining where you rank against your competitors.
This tab includes Share of Voice information and spending trends for the week.
There are multiple media spend data views in the other tabs of this report.
In the Advertiser Quick Pivot Tab, you easily drill-downto most granular data level.
How Does Current Spending Compare to the Same Time Period Last Year?
Pivot the Data to View Spend Month Over Month
MediaRadar can provide historical spending data in an occurrence detail file for clients who purchased historical data.
The Historical Spend Occurrence file lists out all occurrence level data and spend.
To analyze this data month over month, insert a pivot table.
2. Set up your pivot table to view spend by month.
Filters: Media Type
Columns: Month
Rows: Advertiser
Values: Sum of Media Spend
3. To view spend for Television, select the following media types:
National Cable
Network
Spot
Syndicated
Using a pivot table to generate a Month over Month view of my competitors’ Television media spend for historical year 2019, we can easily identify trends in spend.
Overall, my competition spends the most in the Spring and early Summer months (April –June) of the year, with Lowe’s spending the most in those 3 months.
My top 3 competitors in spend for all of 2019 are Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Ace Hardware
